When instructing, I focus on you as an individual. Below is just an outline to give us a starting place. I will change the class wherever needed to meet your specific skill level & interests. We may or may not cover everything listed on the outline.
Crash Course/ Introduction to Canoeing and Racing
(Most popular for those wanting to learn how to race the Texas Water Safari & CR100)

Down River Class - II
(a good follow up to crash course/down river class)
Must to have prior canoe/kayak experience
In this class we will paddle down a slightly more technical section of river with more sweepers. While working on a good stroke you will learn how to paddle down the river using the current to help you while not being pushed into every over hanging tree in the river.

Intermediate Flat Water Drills

This is for the paddler who is comfortable handing the canoe but is wanting to get faster (or learn a new boat) . I will show and practice with you drill that I use to help improve speed. Be ready for a good work out if you join this class.

Kids Day Camp
Do you have a child would like to try something new? This is the perfect opportunity him/her to learn a new and fun sport while spending time in the great outdoors.
Any of the classes I have are offered for children as well as adults, however I have a Monday-Thursday day camp specifically for 8 – 17 year olds. Each class will last about 2 hours, deisgned to be a fun way to learn all the basics of canoeing. Some of the activities learned will be the basic canoe strokes, rescuing a swamped canoe and canoe games all mixed with swimming.
Depending on the level of interest there could be future sessions taking river trips and participation in state wide races.

Early registrations ends July 1st
Cost: Early registration: $100.00 per child
Late: registration: $130.00 per child

If you have at least 6 children that would like to attend summer day camp I will work with your schedule. This can also be aranged over the weekend.
Weekly Group Canoe Lessons for Kids
Cost $12.00 per lesson (1 1/2 hour)
If you have more than one child in the same family price is reduced to $10.00 per child
Location: San Marcos River (normally Staples dam or San Marcos River Retreat)
This is designed for your child to come back week after week practice and impove their paddling skills. Each child will start out in a basic rec style canoe, once they learn the basics they have the opportunity to paddle various racing style canoes. While not required, there are a number canoe races for kids throught Texas where they have the oppertunity to compete against other kids.
